NextGen Healthcare Expands Relationship with CommUnityCare to Deploy Revenue Cycle Management Services

FQHC selects RCM service to further align quality care with clinical, administrative, and revenue processes to improve financial results

HORSHAM, Pa.--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- NextGen Healthcare Information Systems, LLC., a wholly owned subsidiary of Quality Systems, Inc. (NAS: QSII) and a leading provider of healthcare information systems and connectivity solutions, announced today that CommUnityCare has selected NextGen Healthcare to provide revenue cycle management services (RCM).

CommUnity Care, a nonprofit Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC) system that operates 22 clinics throughout Austin/Travis County in Texas, will deploy NextGen RCM Services throughout its enterprise. These services will seamlessly integrate with the organization's current incorporation of NextGen Healthcare technology, including NextGen® Ambulatory EHR and NextGen® Practice Management. CommUnityCare selected NextGen RCM Services to achieve system optimization of the NextGen® technology and re-engineer the billing and accounts receivable management processes to realize greater efficiencies, better economies, and improved billing and collection results, while adding continuity to their workflow.

FQHCs serve underserved populations, and, as a result, they must be able to provide a sliding fee scale as well as comprehensive services that do not have a direct reimbursement mechanism. This contributes to both more complex reimbursement issues and stringent reporting requirements. Seamlessly integrating NextGen RCM Services and its comprehensive compliance program with their current NextGen® solutions provides CommUnityCare the necessary reporting utilities to support the variety of documentation needed to satisfy federal and state regulations and funding requirements.

With NextGen RCM Services, CommUnityCare can now leverage one platform across all areas of their enterprise thereby connecting and synchronizing their clinical, administrative, and revenue solutions. One key benefit of the new services is that CommUnityCare can quickly identify and correct any issues associated with delays in collections, ultimately resulting in improved revenue cycle results.

"As a FQHC, we see an increased number of uninsured or underinsured patients, therefore, aligning costs with quality of care is a top priority," said Carolyn Konecny, chief financial officer for CommUnityCare. "NextGen Healthcare's solutions have considerably helped us enhance patient care over the years. Now, the addition of RCM Services will allow us to prepare for the numerous healthcare reform initiatives coming down the pike as we ensure we are optimizing revenue in every way possible."

"The future of the healthcare industry is closely tied to the technological solutions currently being implemented nationwide along with how well organizations, such as FQHCs like CommUnityCare, can adopt all of the advanced features and best practice methodologies to optimize their financial performance," noted Monte Sandler, executive vice president of NextGen RCM Services. "Leveraging NextGen RCM Services provides our clients with the financial expertise, services and technology to better control operational costs and provide more predictable revenue streams. Our alignment with client goals, like those of CommUnityCare, is critical to helping them execute their vision while expanding our footprint throughout the Community Health Center (CHC) market."

About CommUnityCare

CommUnityCare provides services at 22 locations in Travis County. Each year, their health centers provide approximately 250,000 medical, dental, and behavioral health patient appointments. This number represents more than 67,000 individual patients. CommUnityCare provides outpatient primary healthcare, dental care, limited specialty care, and behavioral health services. These services are provided to Travis County residents whose incomes and lack of private health insurance qualify them for enrollment. They take Medicaid, Medicare, and MAP (a program that covers health care for those with low-income). If people don't qualify for those financial assistance programs, they can receive services at a highly discounted rate through a sliding scale program at CommUnityCare. This news release may contain forward-looking statements within the meaning of the federal securities laws. Statements regarding future events, developments, the Company's future performance, as well as management's expectations, beliefs, intentions, plans, estimates or projections relating to the future (including, without limitation, statements concerning revenue and net income), are forward-looking statements within the meaning of these laws and involve a number of risks and uncertainties. Management believes that these forward-looking statements are reasonable and are based on reasonable assumptions and forecasts, however, undue reliance should not be placed on such statements that speak only as of the date hereof. Moreover, these forward-looking statements are subject to a number of risks and uncertainties, some of which are outlined below. As a result, actual results may vary materially from those anticipated by the forward-looking statements. Among the important factors that could cause actual results to differ materially from those indicated by such forward-looking statements are: volume and timing of systems sales and installations; length of sales cycles and installation process; the possibility that the products will not achieve market acceptance; seasonal patterns of sales and customer buying behavior; the development by competitors of new or superior technologies; the timing, cost and success or failure of new product and service introductions, development and product upgrade releases; undetected errors or bugs in software; product liability; changing economic, political or regulatory influences in the health-care industry; changes in product-pricing policies; availability of third-party products and components; competitive pressures including product offerings, pricing and promotional activities; the Company's ability or inability to attract and retain qualified personnel; possible regulation of the Company's software by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration; uncertainties concerning threatened, pending and new litigation against the Company including related professional services fees; uncertainties concerning the amount and timing of professional fees incurred by the Company generally; changes of accounting estimates and assumptions used to prepare the prior periods' financial statements; general economic conditions; and the risk factors detailed from time to time in Quality Systems' periodic reports and registration statements filed with the Securities and Exchange Commission. A significant portion of the Company's quarterly sales of software product licenses and computer hardware is concluded in the last month of the fiscal quarter, generally with a concentration of such revenues earned in the final ten business days of that month. Due to these and other factors, the Company's revenues and operating results are very difficult to forecast. A major portion of the Company's costs and expenses, such as personnel and facilities, are of a fixed nature and, accordingly, a shortfall or decline in quarterly and/or annual revenues typically results in lower profitability or losses. As a result, comparison of the Company's period-to-period financial performance is not necessarily meaningful and should not be relied upon as an indicator of future performance. The Company undertakes no obligation to publicly update any forward-looking statements, whether as a result of new information, future events or otherwise.
