In the following video, analysts Brenton Flynn and Austin Smith react to Wal-Mart's earnings report from Thursday morning. The largest retailer in the world posted results that came in largely in line with expectations, but guidance for the full year fell below analyst targets. Many investors look to Wal-Mart as a gauge for broader consumer spending, but there are also a number of idiosyncrasies in the broader discount retail industry to be aware of, particularly the moves being made by dollar stores.
