Blizzard Entertainment releases free trial version of Diablo 3

Are you that one person in your friend group that hasn't played Diablo® III yet? Well now you can see what all the fuss is about, and even better you can do it for free! That's right, available exclusively on Battle.net is the new Diablo® III Starter Edition. While it isn't the entire version of the dungeon crawling hack and slasher, you can still venture all the way to Level Thirteen and slay the evil Skeleton King without purchasing the entire game itself. So now you're thinking, "I have to try this." Am I right? Well I'll tell you how you can.

There are three ways to download the FREE Starter Edition of the third installment in the Diablo® franchise. You can log in or create an account on Battle.net and download it via the "Your Game Accounts" section. You can also click down below for a direct link to the download page. Or if your friends have a copy of the game disc, you can borrow it from them (if they're willing to cough it up, that is) and the free trial will be available after installation.

Before you go swinging your battle axe, keep in mind that certain features will not be available to you unless you purchase the complete game. However, if you DO happen to begin your adventure with the Starter Edition, any progress you make will be carried over to the full game upon purchase and installation. Once you've done that, you will have access to all of the game's features.
