Nuance Communications Beats on Both Top and Bottom Lines
Nuance Communications (NAS: NUAN) reported earnings on Aug. 7. Here are the numbers you need to know.

EPS came in at $0.45. The 17 earnings estimates compiled by S&P Capital IQ predicted $0.39 per share. GAAP EPS of $0.25 for Q3 were 92% higher than the prior-year quarter's $0.13 per share.

For the quarter, gross margin was 66.9%, 30 basis points worse than the prior-year quarter. Operating margin was 12.9%, 210 basis points better than the prior-year quarter. Net margin was 18.4%, 570 basis points better than the prior-year quarter.
Next quarter's average estimate for revenue is $500.5 million. On the bottom line, the average EPS estimate is $0.47.
Next year's average estimate for revenue is $1.74 billion. The average EPS estimate is $1.63.
The stock has a four-star rating (out of five) at Motley Fool CAPS, with 5,474 members out of 5,718 rating the stock outperform, and 244 members rating it underperform.
