FarmVille Loyal Dogs: Everything you need to know

After dogs left the FarmVille market, we thought that our existing dogs would be the last we'd see of interactive canines in the game. Not so, as a new set of "loyal dogs" along with a new doghouse has launched in the store. To start this event, you'll need to place a doghouse on one of your farms, with the Sunshine Doghouse being the only one available right now. Eventually, a Cupcake Doghouse will be released, but this isn't available as of this writing.

Each doghouse will offer you a different collection of dogs, but you can only place one of each kind of doghouse on a single farm. That is, you can have a Sunshine Doghouse on your Home Farm and English Countryside, as examples, but you can't have more than one Sunshine Doghouse on the same farm. To adopt your first dog, you'll need to finish the Sunshine Doghouse by collecting parts for it: 12 each of Chew Toys and Dog Beds and 24 Tennis Balls. Finishing the Sunshine Doghouse gives you a Toy Poodle, and allows you to start collecting treats to unlock new dogs.


Treats can be earned by asking your friends to send them to you via a general news post on your feed, and once you unlock a dog, you'll have the option of actually removing it from the doghouse to display it out on your farm. When you've earned enough treats to unlock all of the dogs within the Sunshine Doghouse, you can begin to "train" your dogs, using excess treats to have them gather random items. These prizes can be small animals (Cats or Squirrels) or dog-themed trees, decorations and general farm boosts.

Here's a rundown of the dogs available via the Sunshine Doghouse, and how many treats you'll need to collect for each.

  • Toy Poodle - Complete the Sunshine Doghouse

  • Poodle - 20 Treats

  • Yellow Lab - 40 Treats

  • Labradoodle - 70 Treats

  • Black Lab - 120 Treats


Again, the Cupcake Doghouse will come with a different set of dogs once it's released, but you've definitely got plenty of treats to collect now in the meantime, just to earn these four dogs. As more incentive, these dogs can be mastered, so long as they are in the Doghouse when you collect from it, so keep that in mind as well.
