HollyFrontier Misses on Revenues but Beats on EPS

HollyFrontier (NYS: HFC) reported earnings on Aug. 8. Here are the numbers you need to know.

EPS details
EPS came in at $2.39. The 15 earnings estimates compiled by S&P Capital IQ forecast $2.16 per share. GAAP EPS of $2.39 for Q2 were 34% higher than the prior-year quarter's $1.79 per share.

Margin details
For the quarter, gross margin was 18.8%, 600 basis points better than the prior-year quarter. Operating margin was 16.9%, 580 basis points better than the prior-year quarter. Net margin was 10.3%, 380 basis points better than the prior-year quarter.

Looking ahead
Next quarter's average estimate for revenue is $4.82 billion. On the bottom line, the average EPS estimate is $1.69.

Next year's average estimate for revenue is $18.98 billion. The average EPS estimate is $5.93.
