Today, analysts Austin Smith and Andrew Tonner discuss one huge way eBay is leapfrogging Amazon: same-day shipping. Though it currently only applies to San Francisco, and there are some caveats like a minimum purchase price and a delivery fee, it signals a major strategic shift for eBay as the company moves further down the road of its successful fixed-price auction format. eBay has partnered with retailers such as RadioShack and Best Buy to make this happen, and if effective, it could be the lifeline other struggling retailers have needed for a long time now.
