Newport Increases Sales but Misses Revenue Estimate

EPS came in at $0.30. The five earnings estimates compiled by S&P Capital IQ averaged $0.30 per share. GAAP EPS of $0.24 for Q2 were 33% lower than the prior-year quarter's $0.36 per share.

For the quarter, gross margin was 43.5%, 240 basis points worse than the prior-year quarter. Operating margin was 7.4%, 550 basis points worse than the prior-year quarter. Net margin was 6.0%, 470 basis points worse than the prior-year quarter.
Next quarter's average estimate for revenue is $164.4 million. On the bottom line, the average EPS estimate is $0.35.
Next year's average estimate for revenue is $655.6 million. The average EPS estimate is $1.40.
