Altria Group (NYS: MO) reported earnings on Jan. 31. Here are the numbers you need to know.

EPS came in at $0.55. The 12 earnings estimates compiled by S&P Capital IQ averaged $0.54 per share. GAAP EPS of $0.55 for Q4 were 34% higher than the prior-year quarter's $0.41 per share.

Margin details
For the quarter, gross margin was 53.4%, 140 basis points worse than the prior-year quarter. Operating margin was 39.9%, 280 basis points worse than the prior-year quarter. Net margin was 24.7%, 550 basis points better than the prior-year quarter.

Looking ahead
Next quarter's average estimate for revenue is $4.04 billion. On the bottom line, the average EPS estimate is $0.53.

Next year's average estimate for revenue is $17.65 billion. The average EPS estimate is $2.38.
