In the following video, Brenton discusses an interesting discussion topic introduced by famed entrepreneur and investor Peter Thiel during a recent tech conference. While discussing the state of technology with Google chairman Eric Schmidt, Thiel claimed that Google should admit it "is no longer a technology company." Why? He believes Google has run out of ideas for growth, sits on a mountain of cash, and can't pay a dividend because that would be admitting it was no longer a tech company. While there are certainly a lot of moving parts at work here, the topic brings to the surface one of the reasons tech companies have such high cash balances: repatriation tax.
