Bubble Witch Saga maker King.com pops up Barcelona studio

The creator of Bubble Witch Saga and Candy Crush Saga wants to keep ahead of the competition (and tailing Zynga) for as long as possible. That's likely why King.com opened a new studio based in Barcelona, Spain and led by former Digital Chocolate VP and GM Manel Sort. This new studio will focus largely on mobile social and casual games.

That just happens to be Sort's forte, coming from Digital Chocolate heading projects like recent iOS release Galaxy Life Pocket Adventures. Judging from the company's first mobile game, an adaptation of Bubble Witch Saga for iOS devices, we imagine King.com will employ the same strategy with future releases. While it's nothing more than speculation, we can probably expect mobile versions of Candy Crush Saga and Hoop De Loop Saga. But Sort has other plans, too.

"King.com is growing rapidly and is showing great innovation in cross-platform games, particularly with the new Bubble Witch Saga mobile app," Sort said in a release. "I am looking forward to building a great team in sunny Barcelona to help the company build new casual social franchises." Looks like we can expect some brand new mobile games from King.com. Hey, no one has done a decent voice-controlled mobile game yet--just sayin'.

Are you excited for what's to come from King.com? What franchise do you hope it will bring to mobile next? Sound off in the comments. Add Comment.
