Coming into yesterday, Apple had largely run away with the tablet market, much to Microsoft's chagrin. After the market closed yesterday, Microsoft laid out its most ambitious plan to challenge Apple in the market that appears to hold the future of personal computing, with the announcement of its Surface tablet. However, in announcing this ambitious plan, Microsoft also opted to venture into unfamiliar territory by deciding to manufacture the device, instead of sticking to its traditional specialty of software.
