A Sneak Peek at Our Natural Gas Future
The following video is part of our "Motley Fool Conversations" series, in which analyst John Reeves and advisor David Meier discuss topics across the investing world.
In a recent interview, energy author Raymond Learsy made the case for natural gas being incredibly important for our energy future. Learsy sees natural gas replacing coal in power generation given its price, power density, and emissions. He also sees natural gas displacing gasoline over time, which is great news for companies like Westport Innovations and Fuel Systems Solutions. Although the antics of Chesapeake Energy CEO Aubrey McClendon are casting a shadow on the industry, there's no doubt that natural gas is the fuel of the future. John and David like Devon Energy and ExxonMobil as ways to play this long-term trend. Not only do they have great properties, but they also have strong balance sheets and solid management teams.
