Is Natural Gas Gaining Traction?

Natural gas has become the topic du jour for energy investors. With prices this cheap many keen investors, including T. Boone Pickens, have made outsized bets on natural gas as the transportation fuel of the future. It's a long shot for sure, but early wins like Westport's (NAS: WPRT) relationships with Caterpillar (NYS: CAT) and Volvo, not to mention Clean Energy Fuel's (NAS: CLNE) tie-ups with Waste Management (NYS: WM) and other big players are indicative of a paradigm shift in the transportation world. For the forward-looking investors, this sector has major promise.

But with a real switch to natural gas a long way off, investors may still be anxious about getting in this early.
