Games.com Cash Games: Everything you need to know

Cash games: They're skill-based games that you can play for real-life cash. We've partnered with King.com to bring you a large selection of games that you can play and, if you're good enough, win money playing them. You can find all of our cash games by clicking on the Cash Games link in our navigation bar at the top of the page, or by going directly to our Cash Games homepage.

Once you've reached the Cash Games homepage, you will see five featured games at the top of the page and then a long list of Games, which can be sorted by the most popular, newest, etc.

Once you find a game that you're interested in, click the blue 'Play Now' button, which will take you to the game's launchpad page. We're going to use one of my personal faves, Candy Crush, as an example.

OK, so here were are at Candy Crush's launchpad page. Click the giant 'Play Free Online' button to play the game.

You will then be directed to the gameplay page and will be able to play a demo of the game for free. Once you've played through the demo, you'll be prompted to register with King.com to play the full version of the game.

Add your email and create a user name and password to play full versions of the King.com cash games. You can also include your date of birth and gender. Then click the blue 'Sign up' button. You will then be directed to the following page:

This is an important step in the sign-up process. You will need to verify your email address. To do this, go to the email account that you registered with and look for an email from King.com with a subject line that that reads, "Email confirmation." Open the email and click on the link provided to verify your account.

Once you've clicked that link you will officially be signed up to play King.com games on Games.com. You will be re-directed to this confirmation page on our site.

Click the blue 'Continue' button and you will be directed to another screen that says 'You are now a member." Hurray! Way to go.

Now this is where the whole free $10 thing comes into play. When you sign up as a King.com member, you are a silver member, which means you are playing games, but are not playing them for cash. To play games and win cash, you need to become a GOLD member by depositing money in your King.com games account.

And, for a limited time only, if you deposit $5 in your account, King.com will give you an additional $10 to pay games with.

To sign up for a Gold account, you will need to upgrade, and you can do that by clicking on one of several banners that are currently running on the Cash Games homepage (like the one above), or click the "Upgrade" button in the navigation tabs at the top of the page (see image below).

Once you click on a banner or the Upgrade navigation button, you will be directed to a page that looks like this:

There you can select how much money you'd like to add to your account (note that you will get an extra $10 if you pay $5, and so forth). You can pay via Visa, Master Card and PayPal, check off that you agree to the Terms and Conditions and hit the blue 'Continue' button.

Then based on what type of payment options you selected, you will be prompted to either enter your credit card information or log into PayPal. Once that's submitted, you will officially be a Gold player and will be eligible to play games for cash.

From this screen, you can either search for the name of the game that you want to play in the search box at the top of the screen, or click on the 'Cash Games' link in the navigation to see a complete lineup of cash games.

Once you find a game you'd like to play, click through until you get to the game--Candy Crush in this example. You'll see a notification on the game that you can now play for cash. (See the box below that reads, "Time to play for real!")

Now you're ready to play for cash! Each game requires an initial payout of a small sum. Each game has a Cup Tournament, Jackpot Tournament and Head-to-Head Tournaments. A Cup Tournament requires a set number of people (say, five people) to play before it ends, and a Jackpot Tournament allows unlimited players, but will run for a set amount of time (5 hours, 15 hours, etc). Head-to-head tournaments, as the name implies, will pit you against another player who has a similar skill level as you.

Choose the type of game you want to play, play it and then check out the results. I tried my hand at competitive Candy Crush and managed to come out on top against 'thefool.' Take that!

I didn't win any cash at the time of this writing because the tournament has not closed yet. I did, however, manage to snag six jewels, which can be used to unlock new features in the cash games, such as the ability to change my avatar's background, send game challenges to friends and send gifts to friends.

I'll have to check in later to see how I did when the tournament wraps up. And that, my friends, is the entire cash games experience on Games.com.
