House of the Day: 'Steel Magnolias' House Hits Market

Updated

The house made famous by the 1989 comedy-drama "Steel Magnolias" has just hit the market for $1.175 million. Not too bad, considering that the beautiful abode was once a movie set for the memorable film starring Academy Award-winning actresses Julia Roberts, Sally Field and Shirley MacLaine.

The charming home, located in Natchitoches, La., was built before the Civil War in 1840 and sits along the Cane River. Though it was once the on-screen home of the Eatenton family, it is now being used as a bed-and-breakfast (aptly named "The Steel Magnolia House"). It includes six bedrooms and 6½ bathrooms in its generous 6,000 square feet of living space. Below, see a slideshow of "Steel Magnolia" movie stills juxtaposed with listing photos that show the house today.

The "Steel Magnolias" house joins a slew of other iconic movie settings that have hit the market, including the "Deep Throat" home in Miami, Fla., the "Home Alone" house in Winnetka, Ill., and the "Hunger Games" town by Hildebran, N.C.

Andy Osborn of Coldwell Banker has the listing.
