Zombie Swipeout cuts the App Store wide open for free

Maybe you're tired of slashing at fruit. Perhaps you want a little more gore in your iPhone games. There are plenty of reasons to give Zynga's newest mobile game, Zombie Swipeout, a shot. The number one reason, of course, is the fact that it's free to play on both iPhone and iPad.

Taking the swiping game hook popularized by Fruit Ninja and swapping out fruits for adorable, blood-filled zombies, Zombie Swipeout looks to add some edge and humor to the sub genre. In true Zynga style, this Zynga Mobile Germany (or GameDoctors) release employs an energy system, but mixes things up with the power of choice.

More specifically, should players accidentally slice up Joey--the game's protagonist and only obstacle--they have the option to redeem their game with a first aid kit. (Of course, more of these game-savers will cost you.) Sure, it's yet another way to get players to pay up, but at the very least it's an interesting one. Well, the bright side is that you don't have to pay anything to take a blade or bludgeon to some zombies.
