Want free iPhone, iPad games? Then go straight to the source, Apple

Looks like some major multi-billion-dollar corporation finally got the hint. Apple has set its own free app promotion in motion, known simply as "Free App of the Day." The company made the announcement via its Twitter account, according to TouchArcade, promoting Cut The Rope: Experiments as its very first free game of the day.

Apple didn't exactly make a big stink of the promotion via the media, so TouchArcade (and we) wonders whether this will be a recurring thing for the iPhone and iPad creator. However, the promotion does have its own space in the mobile version of the App Store, so that's about as official as it gets, no?

Anyway, Apple joins the long list of companies to offer free apps (or games) of the day, week--what have you. While that's a good thing for developers looking to get their games in front of more players, it's even better thing for the players. You know what they say: If it's free, it's for me-err ... you.
