The following video is part of our "Motley Fool Conversations" series, in which senior technology analyst Eric Bleeker and chief technology officer Jeremy Phillips discuss topics across the investing world.
On Friday, LegalZoom filed its S-1 with the SEC, which indicates its intention to go public. This online legal services and documents provider has many of the traits Jeremy and Eric look for in a successful Web business. Namely, it is currently in the process of switching its business model from one-off transactions to a subscription focus. This recurring revenue stream should stabilize its revenue. Additionally, due to the scale and efficiency of the Internet, it has the power to shift several thousand-dollar transactions into a few hundred. This could destroy many brick-and-mortar businesses, but the resulting value will be mostly LegalZoom's to capture.
Big recent and upcoming IPOs like Groupon and Facebook might gather a lot of investor attention, but the truth is that they're playing second fiddle to an even larger revolution in technology. To better prepare investors for this new revolution, The Motley Fool has just released a free report on mobile called "The Next Trillion-Dollar Revolution" that details a hidden component play inside mobile phones that also is a leader in the exploding Chinese market. Inside the report, we not only describe why the mobile revolution will dwarf any other technology revolution seen before it, but we also name the company at the forefront of the trend. Hundreds of thousands have requested access to previous reports, and you can access this new report today by clicking here -- it's free.
