Aspen Technology Beats on Both Top and Bottom Lines
Aspen Technology (NAS: AZPN) reported earnings on April 30. Here are the numbers you need to know.

EPS came in at $0.14. The seven earnings estimates compiled by S&P Capital IQ predicted $0.05 per share. Non-GAAP EPS of $0.14 for Q3 were much higher than the prior-year quarter's $0.01 per share. GAAP EPS were $0.11 for Q3 versus -$0.01 per share for the prior-year quarter.

For the quarter, gross margin was 84.1%, 440 basis points better than the prior-year quarter. Operating margin was 20.5%, much better than the prior-year quarter. Net margin was 13.2%, much better than the prior-year quarter. (Margins calculated in GAAP terms.)
Next quarter's average estimate for revenue is $78.3 million. On the bottom line, the average EPS estimate is $0.07.
Next year's average estimate for revenue is $300.8 million. The average EPS estimate is $0.34.
The stock has a one-star rating (out of five) at Motley Fool CAPS, with 68 members out of 101 rating the stock outperform, and 33 members rating it underperform.
