CityVille Weather Changes: Everything you need to know

Updated

Among the many upgrades and changes that have taken place in CityVille over the past months, there's one thing that has remained consistent: it's always sunny in CityVille. That changes now though, as a changing weather system is now rolling out to the game. This comes with a three-part quest series that introduces a new building called the "Weather Forcasting [sic] Tower."

The Weather Forceasting Tower requires 40 building materials to complete:

  • 8 Rain Coats

  • 8 Rain Boosts

  • 8 Rain Hats

  • 8 Rain Puddles

  • 8 Rain Drops

Once you've gathered these 40 materials, you'll be given a forecast, showing you which days you can expect it to rain in your city. On days when rain falls in your city, you'll be able to harvest crops as normal, but will be given bonus Goods when doing so. You'll also be able to collect Umbrellas to give to your citizens (Umbrellas can be earned by asking friends to send them to you or by purchasing them with City Cash). When you give a citizen an Umbrella (they'll have an Umbrella symbol above their head), you'll earn bonus items like coins, XP, Zoning Permits, Goods and more.

Unfortunately, just as in the real world, it doesn't look like we'll be able to manually change the weather to create rain whenever we want bonus Goods. Still, if you watch your forecast and plan ahead, you'll have plenty of incentive to play on days when it's raining, as you'll be able to boost your progress in terms of supplying Businesses and even land expansion via the free Zoning Permits given away for collecting Umbrellas. It's possible that additional weather types could launch in this new weather system in the future, and we'll make sure to let you know if that ends up happening.
