Angry Birds cages 1B downloads, and is that a new Rovio game?

Rovio has reached the milestone it set out to meet a long time ago: 1 billion downloads. And it's no wonder, considering the developer's most recent release in its ubiquitous Angry Birds franchise, Angry Birds Space, broke records and had more partners than most major movie releases. And like Rovio is so wont to do, it celebrated the massive notch on its belt with an adorable video.

However, Rovio had much more to speak of in the celebratory video. Just as the Red Bird soars to the 1 billion download mark, the camera pans out to a goofy-looking blonde kid playing Angry Birds on his smartphone. This is the first time Rovio has spent time animating a new character, which is certainly notable.

But take a closer look at what's behind the kid on his bedroom wall. It looks like a Rube Goldberg-esque machine, a puzzle, if you will. And everyone knows that, at this point, physics-based puzzles are right up Rovio's alley. Angry Birds meets Cut The Rope? We could dig it.
