Wendy's Increases Sales but Misses Revenue Estimate
Wendy's (NAS: WEN) reported earnings on May 8. Here are the numbers you need to know.

EPS came in at $0.03. The 20 earnings estimates compiled by S&P Capital IQ anticipated $0.03 per share. Non-GAAP EPS of $0.03 for Q1 were 200% higher than the prior-year quarter's $0.01 per share. GAAP EPS of $0.01 for Q1 were 67% lower than the prior-year quarter's $0.03 per share.

For the quarter, gross margin was 23.7%, 50 basis points better than the prior-year quarter. Operating margin was 4.2%, 80 basis points worse than the prior-year quarter. Net margin was 0.4%, 170 basis points worse than the prior-year quarter. (Margins calculated in GAAP terms.)
Next quarter's average estimate for revenue is $664.4 million. On the bottom line, the average EPS estimate is $0.06.
Next year's average estimate for revenue is $2.58 billion. The average EPS estimate is $0.19.
