You get Cartoon Universe, a free-to-play, massively multiplayer online game in the browser. In development at Warner Bros. Games Montreal, this is the new studio's first game, a kid-friendly destination for fans for Looney Tunes and Scooby Doo. According to Kotaku, kids will get to create their own in-game avatars and join various characters from both series in mini games.

Much of Cartoon Universe involves players exploring a cartoon world and interacting with their favorite Looney Tunes and Scooby Doo staples. (It's clear that this is what was behind that mysterious "Cartoon Universe" domain registration from a while back.) Though, as Kotaku points out, Scooby and the gang are stranded on their very own personal island for whatever reason.

"Cartoon Universe is an online game filled with safe, social worlds designed just for kids," Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment SVP of Production and Development Samantha Ryan said in a release. "They'll love discovering a constantly changing place full of fun activities, cool rewards and memorable humorous moments with their favorite characters!"

WB Games Montreal's first effort is available now for play in an closed beta, but Cartoon Universe is scheduled for an "official release" sometime in 2012 in North America with an international release slated for 2013. But really, all we care about is whether Gossamer made it in this round.
