The Gory Details on Gevo's Double Miss

For the quarter ended March 31 (Q1), Gevo missed estimates on revenues and missed expectations on earnings per share.
Compared to the prior-year quarter, revenue dropped slightly and GAAP loss per share contracted.

EPS came in at -$0.64. The six earnings estimates compiled by S&P Capital IQ predicted -$0.59 per share. GAAP EPS were -$0.74 for Q1 compared to -$0.76 per share for the prior-year quarter.

For the quarter, gross margin was -0.9%, 150 basis points worse than the prior-year quarter. Operating margin was -122.5%, 6,750 basis points worse than the prior-year quarter. Net margin was -129.8%, 6,910 basis points worse than the prior-year quarter.
Next quarter's average estimate for revenue is $12.4 million. On the bottom line, the average EPS estimate is -$0.60.
Next year's average estimate for revenue is $52.2 million. The average EPS estimate is -$2.16.
The stock has a three-star rating (out of five) at Motley Fool CAPS, with 26 members out of 29 rating the stock outperform, and three members rating it underperform.
