Donate to the World Food Programme for free items in FarmVille

Updated

Over the years, Zynga has offered quite a few charity events in FarmVille, allowing generous players the option of donating to a variety of causes for a free in-game item in return. Such a program has come around yet again, with Zynga offering three prize packages in relation to the World Food Programme, which works to end hunger on a worldwide scale.

The three packages cost different amounts of real world money to purchase, and each offers a different exclusive, themed prize. The first package is just $5, and it gives you a free World Food Programme Tree. Next, $10 will allow you to earn a free themed Elephant, while the largest donation, $20, gives you a 14-day permit to plant White Maize on your farms. You'll be able to plant as many squares as you'd like over the two-week period, earning 52 coins and a single experience point for every square harvested. This White Maize grows in just four hours, and it can be mastered, so mastery sign collectors take note!

Unlike past promotions, Facebook has agreed to skip out on its 30% share of revenue from in-game transactions, so 100% of the proceeds gathered throughout this event will go to the World Food Programme. If you'd like more information about the three options and where your money will go, make sure to visit the World Food Programme's website. Just make sure you do it fast, as this promotion won't be around forever.

Will you donate at any of these three levels, or all three at once? Sound off in the comments.
