Metals USA Holdings Increases Sales but Misses Estimates on Earnings

EPS came in at $0.44. The nine earnings estimates compiled by S&P Capital IQ forecast $0.45 per share. GAAP EPS of $0.44 for Q1 were 33% higher than the prior-year quarter's $0.33 per share.

For the quarter, gross margin was 12.8%, 140 basis points worse than the prior-year quarter. Operating margin was 6.5%, 70 basis points worse than the prior-year quarter. Net margin was 3.1%, 20 basis points better than the prior-year quarter.
Next quarter's average estimate for revenue is $548.0 million. On the bottom line, the average EPS estimate is $0.55.
Next year's average estimate for revenue is $2.06 billion. The average EPS estimate is $1.94.
