Free-to-play Final Fantasy, here we come? Square Enix, the Japanese game developer responsible for famous franchises like Final Fantasy, and German social game creator and publisher Bigpoint are in cahoots. The two look to bring their super secret game project to fruition, one that Bigpoint will publish and that's "already well into development at Square Enix," according to a release.

Neither Bigpoint nor Square Enix have revealed any screen shots of the game in question or even its title. (Not even a project name or working title, guys?) However, what we do know is that both plan to leak out more details on the game in the coming weeks, and that within six months it will be playable on Bigpoint.com.

"We are so excited to have the opportunity to work with Square Enix," Bigpoint founder and CEO Heiko Hubertz said in a release. "The combination of Square Enix's long-standing experience in providing digital entertainment and Bigpoint's expertise in developing browser games promises to yield quite the exciting new game."

Unfortunately, that's about all either have to say at this time. Of course, we have guesstimations to make: First, because this game will exist on Bigpoint's game portal, it's safe to say that it will be a free-to-play game, given Bigpoint's pedigree. Second, it's safe to say that this will be a free-to-play Final Fantasy ... because we want it to be.

Are you excited to hear more about what Bigpoint and Square Enix are up to? What do you hope it turns out to be? Sound off in the comments. Add Comment.
