You know, the fact that Jetpack Joyride isn't playable in the browser yet really grinds our gears. Entitled nerd rage aside, it seems like Australian developer Halfbrick Studios agrees, and it wants to make it all better. That must be why Halfbrick acquired Onan Games, the Valencia, Spain-based creator of Mandreel, a technology that allows games to support multiple platforms at once.

For the techies out there, Onan's Mandreel allows games to support iOS, Android, Flash and HTML5 development from one C++ code base. For those that aren't total nerds (like this writer), Mandreel basically allows games to easily exist on iPhones, iPads, Android devices and web browsers all at once, without the developer having to recreate the game for each.

"Onan has created something that is incredibly powerful in such a fast-paced industry," Halfbrick CEO Shainiel Deo said in a release. "It's our goal to maximize reach and bring our games to new fans, and we welcome Onan into the Halfbrick family know that they will help us achieve exactly that."

Halfbrick will now use Onan's technology to bring games like Jetpack Joyride and Fruit Ninja to multiple devices at once. Want to don the machine gun jetpack in the glory of your 27-inch computer monitor on Facebook? Nothing is guaranteed, but it sounds like a possibility with Onan. Fruit Ninja 2 on the 60-inch plasma, here we hope come!

Are you excited by the news that future Halfbrick games will likely be cross-platform at release? What do you hope becomes of Fruit Ninja 2? Sound off in the comments. Add Comment.
