House of the Day: Florida Mansion Gets 5 Stars

Updated

There are very few of us who can wake up to that view every morning, but hey, we can dream, right? Here's another one to add to the wish list.

With endless views over Biscayne Bay, this $13.9 million mansion in Coral Gables, Fla., could be easily mistaken for a luxury resort. And that's not necessarily a bad thing. Who doesn't love a waterfront view from their palm tree-flanked, deck-level swimming pool? You can also enjoy the same sun-drenched panorama from your shaded outdoor dining terrace, decked out with dripping chandeliers and cushioned chairs on which you can sit back and watch the sun set while your cabana boy fetches you cocktails and tropical fruit platters. (Cabana boy not included.)

Don't be fooled by the home's slightly generic, hotel-like exteriors (our only gripe). Inside, you'll find earthy decor and lots of warm, chocolate tones. We love the built-in wooden bookshelves in the den and bedrooms, and the antique-style wrought iron light fixtures throughout. Plus, with fireplaces, an elevator, a chef's kitchen and even a private dock? We give it five stars.

The home spans 13,086 square feet and features eight bedrooms and nine bathrooms.
