It's offish: PopCap's Solitaire Blitz set to make a splash on Facebook

Bejeweled Blitz creator PopCap is applying its whole 'blitz' formula to a classic card game and the results -- Solitaire Blitz -- is officially live on Facebook starting today. The game has been in a limited beta testing phase over the past few weeks, but now anyone and everyone can try to clear the decks in 90 seconds (or more if you use a special boost).

Of course, there's more to this game than just fast-paced Solitaire. The game takes place underwater, and matching cards enable you to dig and collect buried treasure which automatically turns into silver (which can be used to buy extra time and other boosts). And, of course, there's the omnipresent leaderboard so you can see how your Solitaire-y skills stack up against your pals. So very PopCap.

So far, Solitaire Blitz seems to have the makings of another incredible time sink on Facebook, ready to steal your attention away from work, school and pretty much anything, ever. Fortunately, it's only on Facebook (for now), and it requires energy to play, which helps you play in moderation. Unless, of course, you are willing to break out your wallets to buy more energy. I suggest you just wait for your energy to recharge and use that time to do, ya know, the rest of your life.
