Quanta Services Beats Analyst Estimates on EPS

For the quarter ended Dec. 31 (Q4), Quanta Services beat expectations on revenues and earnings per share.
Compared to the prior-year quarter, revenue grew significantly and GAAP earnings per share grew significantly.
Margins expanded across the board.
Quanta Services recorded revenue of $1.51 billion. The 17 analysts polled by S&P Capital IQ looked for revenue of $1.39 billion on the same basis. GAAP reported sales were 37% higher than the prior-year quarter's $1.11 billion.

Non-GAAP EPS came in at $0.36. The 15 earnings estimates compiled by S&P Capital IQ predicted $0.35 per share on the same basis. GAAP EPS of $0.32 for Q4 were 113% higher than the prior-year quarter's $0.15 per share.

For the quarter, gross margin was 15.4%, 100 basis points better than the prior-year quarter. Operating margin was 8.3%, 240 basis points better than the prior-year quarter. Net margin was 4.4%, 140 basis points better than the prior-year quarter.
Next quarter's average estimate for revenue is $1.27 billion. On the bottom line, the average EPS estimate is $0.16.
Next year's average estimate for revenue is $5.26 billion. The average EPS estimate is $1.13.
The stock has a four-star rating (out of five) at Motley Fool CAPS, with 480 members out of 498 rating the stock outperform, and 18 members rating it underperform.
