The telecom industry has witnessed the two largest firms position themselves to dominate the landscape for years to come, placing smaller, less cash-rich competitors like Sprint at a dangerous disadvantage. And while scale certainly helps in this industry, the proposal was met by mixed reviews. Ultimately, Sprint's board nixed the move altogether, leaving the company back at square one.
