Rovi (NAS: ROVI) reported earnings on Feb. 16. Here are the numbers you need to know.

For the quarter ended Dec. 31 (Q4), Rovi missed estimates on revenues and met expectations on earnings per share.

Compared to the prior-year quarter, revenue improved significantly, and GAAP earnings per share dropped to a loss.

Non-GAAP EPS came in at $0.60. The 16 earnings estimates compiled by S&P Capital IQ predicted $0.60 per share on the same basis. GAAP EPS were -$0.46 for Q4 versus $0.60 per share for the prior-year quarter.

Margin details
For the quarter, gross margin was 83.4%, 2,460 basis points worse than the prior-year quarter. Operating margin was 13.2%, 3,480 basis points worse than the prior-year quarter. Net margin was -27.8%, 7,570 basis points worse than the prior-year quarter.

Looking ahead
Next quarter's average estimate for revenue is $177.5 million. On the bottom line, the average EPS estimate is $0.55.

Next year's average estimate for revenue is $771 million. The average EPS estimate is $2.54.
