General Motors Meets on Revenues, Misses on EPS

General Motors (NYS: GM) reported earnings on Feb. 16. Here are the numbers you need to know.

Compared to the prior-year quarter, revenue expanded slightly and GAAP earnings per share shrank significantly.

EPS details
Non-GAAP EPS came in at $0.39. The 18 earnings estimates compiled by S&P Capital IQ anticipated $0.43 per share on the same basis. GAAP EPS of $0.28 for Q4 were 60% lower than the prior-year quarter's $0.70 per share.

Margin details
For the quarter, gross margin was 11.6%, 150 basis points better than the prior-year quarter. Operating margin was 3.0%, 210 basis points better than the prior-year quarter. Net margin was 1.9%, 190 basis points worse than the prior-year quarter.

Looking ahead
Next quarter's average estimate for revenue is $37.18 billion. On the bottom line, the average EPS estimate is $0.74.

Next year's average estimate for revenue is $154.95 billion. The average EPS estimate is $3.59.
