House of the Day: Luxurious, From Wine Cellar to Skylight

Updated

We write about expensive homes all the time, but this one ... well, this one's $47.5 million.

What does $47.5 million get you, you wonder? Well, pretty much everything. From space, to luxury amenities, to impeccable interior design and award-winning landscaping, this spectacular, 14,000-square-foot luxury estate in the Woodside community of San Mateo, Calif., has all your needs covered, and then some.

The four-bedroom, 5½-bathroom home in the San Francisco Bay area features a wine cellar with a 13,200 bottle capacity, a 15-seat cinema, fully equipped gym, computer controlled heating, lighting and security, an elevator, a dumb waiter and a seven-car garage. Oh, and a guest cottage. And a pine-tree-flanked swimming pool that is not to be believed. See pictures below (careful not to drool over that phenomenal wine cellar).

Even without all the frills, the home would still be a winner. Our favorite, non-luxury features include the huge domed skylight above the circular foyer that floods the house with light, and the estate's magnificent green grounds. We're talking close to four glorious acres of trees that, as the pictures reveal, turn dazzling shades of russet-red and gold in the fall. Though, we'd bet they look stunning any time of year.

Anna Pennington Boucher of Sotheby's International Realty has the listing.
