NextEra Energy Beats Analyst Estimates on EPS
NextEra Energy (NYS: NEE) reported earnings on Jan. 27. Here are the numbers you need to know.

For the quarter ended Dec. 31 (Q4), NextEra Energy met expectations on revenues and beat expectations on earnings per share.
Compared to the prior-year quarter, revenue grew and GAAP earnings per share grew significantly.
Margins improved across the board.
NextEra Energy notched revenue of $3.86 billion. The three analysts polled by S&P Capital IQ expected to see net sales of $3.91 billion. Sales were 13% higher than the prior-year quarter's $3.41 billion.

Non-GAAP EPS came in at $0.93. The 13 earnings estimates compiled by S&P Capital IQ forecast $0.92 per share on the same basis. GAAP EPS of $1.59 for Q4 were 149% higher than the prior-year quarter's $0.64 per share.

For the quarter, gross margin was 43.8%, 830 basis points better than the prior-year quarter. Operating margin was 29.3%, 1,550 basis points better than the prior-year quarter. Net margin was 17.3%, 960 basis points better than the prior-year quarter.
Next quarter's average estimate for revenue is $3.55 billion. On the bottom line, the average EPS estimate is $1.02.
Next year's average estimate for revenue is $15.91 billion. The average EPS estimate is $4.54.
