EPS came in at $2.40. The 20 earnings estimates compiled by S&P Capital IQ predicted $2.47 per share. GAAP EPS of $2.31 for Q3 were 9.5% higher than the prior-year quarter's $2.11 per share. (The prior-year quarter included -$0.01 per share in earnings from discontinued operations.)

Margin details
For the quarter, gross margin was 32.1%, 60 basis points better than the prior-year quarter. Operating margin was 25.5%, 20 basis points better than the prior-year quarter. Net margin was 16.5%, 40 basis points worse than the prior-year quarter.

Next quarter's average estimate for revenue is $2.46 billion. On the bottom line, the average EPS estimate is $2.84.

Next year's average estimate for revenue is $8.46 billion. The average EPS estimate is $9.92.
