CityVille Winter Castle: Everything you need to know

Updated

While you might think that CityVille should have already started on its Valentine's Day celebration (hey, FarmVille's already doing it), we're instead given a new feature dealing solely with winter: The Winter Castle. This Winter Castle is available to users level 30 and above, and comes via a goal called "Castle in the Snow." This one asks you to place and complete the Castle, collect from an Ice Tower three times and collect from 20 Winter-themed businesses.

Since that's a lot going on, let's tackle things one by one. The Winter Castle is an upgradeable building that requires you to collect building parts to upgrade. After spending 12 energy to build the frame, you'll have to collect 35 materials to just finish the base Castle:

  • 7 Ice Blocks

  • 7 Ice Trees

  • 7 Ice Shingles

  • 7 Ice Tools

  • 7 Ice Weather Vanes

These items are earned through a combination of general news posts on your wall and individual requests sent to friends. You'll be on a timer of three days to complete this task, and if you can collect all of these parts in time, you'll receive an upgraded "Premium" Winter Castle that has better stats. If you run out of time, you can try again to build the regular Winter Castle. The regular Winter Castle has a population of up to 3,050 citizens, while the Premium Winter Castle can offer up to 4,350 citizens, depending on how many of those random moving van bonuses you receive over time.

As for the Ice Tower, this is a large community building that you may or may not have already placed and completed in your town. Its base requires 10 energy to build, and you'll need to ask 12 friends to come work as staff once you're finished. It gives your city a maximum population boost of 4,250 possible citizens.

Finally, for the Winter Businesses task, you'll be able to collect from buildings like the Holiday Bakery, Holiday Tree Lot, Cozy Cafe, Rocking Horse Shop and more. If the business seems like it could be classified as a winter (or Christmas) business, there's a pretty good chance it will work here. Just keep track of your total so far to know if a particular business counts or not.

When you finally finish all of these tasks, you'll finish the Castle in the Snow goal, and will receive 20,000 coins for your trouble. Is that a worthy prize, for the amount of work you've put in, potentially building two complete structures from scratch? You tell us.

Well, what do you think of this Winter Castle event? Will you work harder to earn the premium look to the Winter Castle over the next three days, or will you skip this event entirely in favor of saving land space in your city? Sound off in the comments.
