House of the Day: High-Stepping White Stallion Estate

Updated

There are mansions and then there are mansions. This one is undeniably the latter.

This $19.995 million French-inspired chateau in the ultra-exclusive White Stallion Estates development in Thousand Oaks, Calif., is unabashedly luxurious. Confidently, unashamedly, almost obnoxiously so.

We're talking custom-made quartz rock crystal chandeliers dangling all over the place; glazed wood crown moldings adorning upholstered walls; glistening Breaumanier limestone flooring, hand-carved limestone mantles. It's a very big (16,000 square feet), very flashy, slightly intimidating work of art.

Though it does have its charms.

Take away all the exterior frills, and you get massive bedrooms (seven of them), luxurious bathrooms (11 of them), a kitchen decked out with state-of-the-art appliances, Italian hardwood cabinetry and quartz counter tops, plus a gym, an in-home theater and a wine cellar. Outside, you get sprawling manicured lawns, an infinity pool, tennis courts, patios and French limestone fountains. Take a peek at our gallery below.

Though this place is anything but subtle, there are a few things we do love. For one, the property is situated nicely atop a promontory of rolling hills and gorgeous oak trees in Thousand Oaks' Hidden Valley. Plus, from any part of the home you can enjoy beautiful views of the Piute Mountains and the Pacific Ocean. Perhaps to remind you that despite all that quartz and crystal, the best things in life are free.

Jordan Cohen from RE/MAX Olson has the listing.
