Nike (NYS: NKE) reported earnings on Dec. 20. Here are the numbers you need to know.

For the quarter ended Nov. 30 (Q2), Nike beat slightly on revenues and beat expectations on earnings per share.
Compared to the prior-year quarter, revenue expanded significantly, and earnings per share grew.
Margins dropped across the board.
Nike booked revenue of $5.7 billion. The 15 analysts polled by S&P Capital IQ anticipated sales of $5.6 billion. Sales were 18% higher than the prior-year quarter's $4.8 billion.

EPS came in at $1. The 17 earnings estimates compiled by S&P Capital IQ averaged $0.97 per share. GAAP EPS of $1.00 for Q2 were 6.4% higher than the prior-year quarter's $0.94 per share.

For the quarter, gross margin was 42.7%, 260 basis points worse than the prior-year quarter. Operating margin was 11.0%, 100 basis points worse than the prior-year quarter. Net margin was 8.2%, 120 basis points worse than the prior-year quarter.

What does the future hold?
Next quarter's average estimate for revenue is $5.8 billion. On the bottom line, the average EPS estimate is $1.19. (There are eight revenue estimates and 16 EPS estimates.)
