Are You Ready for Apple's Next International Opportunity?
The following video is part of senior technology analyst Eric Bleeker's "Tech Conversation" series, where he discusses trends across the tech investing world.
In today's edition, Eric looks at the week in Apple. Specifically, he drills down on a series of iPhone 4S launches in international markets like Russia, Taiwan, Brazil, and other Latin American regions. Apple's now truly a global company, collecting the lion's share of its growth from around the globe. In fact, between 2005 and 2010 Apple's earnings growth in its Asia-Pacific region stormed ahead 2,991%! That's significantly ahead of the 682% growth in the Americas region, which in its own right is a remarkable figure.
Not only that, but Research In Motion -- which is particularly strong across Southeast Asia and Latin America -- once again fumbled its earnings last week and pointed toward continuing weakening demand for its handsets. Launching the iPhone 4S in many of those regions allows Apple to strike one more blow against one of its strongest competitors.
Apple has ridden the mobile revolution to become a $354 billion company. However, the company is just one way to play this amazing opportunity for technology investors.
