House of the Day: John Legend's NYC Condo, Sans Grammys

Updated

"Maybe I should rob somebody," singer John Legend once famously crooned. "So we could live like Whitney and Bobby."

Well, that was in 2004. Now, in 2011, with nine Grammys under his belt, the multimillionaire ranks right up there with the music industry's high rollers and heavyweights -- well, from what we can tell by looking at his pad, at least.

The singer of chart-topping hits such as "Ordinary People" and "Save Room" has put his sprawling, "all-glass" East Village condo in New York, N.Y., on the market for $2.95 million. Famously featured in New York magazine, the stunning 1,359-square-foot apartment was initially listed for $2.3 million before its asking price was swiftly hiked up thanks to a fancy renovation under the architectural expertise of Winka Dubbeldam.

The two-bedroom, two-bathroom condo boasts 14-foot ceilings, architectural steel trusses, a kitchen designed by Andre Escobar, a rooftop swimming pool and a private elevator landing. And, if all of that doesn't convince you, perhaps this Esquire spread featuring the condo and Legend's scantily-clad Sports Illustrated model girlfriend will.

Jason Walker from Prudential Douglas Elliman has the listing.
