Apple could lose big bucks in Motorola suit

Alleghany to purchase reinsurer
U.S. property insurer Alleghany (NYS: Y) says it will buy Transatlantic Holdings (NYS: TRH) in a $3.4 billion deal. This comes after months of takeover interest in Transatlantic. Shareholders turned down earlier deals from Allied World Assurance and Buffett's Berkshire Hathaway (NYS: BRK.B) , and Validus Holdings had made a hostile takeover bid for the company. Expedia goes eLong
Online travel company Expedia (NAS: EXPE) , coughed up $72.4 million to buy Renren's (NYS: RENN) interest in Chinese Internet-based travel business eLong. Tyson Foods reports fourth-quarter earnings
The results are in for Tyson Foods (NYS: TSN) fourth quarter's and fiscal year 2011. The company posted EPS of $0.26 for the quarter, compared with $0.57 for the same period a year earlier. U.S. budget concerns drive down stocks
News that the bipartisan super-committee failed to agree on $1.2 trillion in budget cuts has flooded the market with uncertainty. Last week, the Dow Jones Industrial Average finished down 2.9%, followed by the S&P 500's decline of 3.8%, while the Nasdaq lost nearly 4%. Read the full story at CNN.
