You've heard the expression that there's no such thing as bad pizza, right? That's kind of how it is with houses in Malibu, Calif. Throw in a view of the Pacific Ocean and the random dolphin-sighting, and what more do you really need?
But the truth is, occasionally a house comes down the pike that makes you remember -- if I may go overboard with the pizza analogy -- that thin-crusted really trumps the thick doughy stuff, and adding pineapple as a topping kind of insults the taste buds. In other words, if you want real Malibu, this house is the real McCoy.
Listed at $9.85 million, this four-bedroom architectural beauty was originally built in 1948. Today, after an extensive remodel in 2005 that focused on optimizing the incredible views, it has 9-foot glass doors and more than 1,500 square feet of oceanfront decks. It also sits on 95 feet of prime sand known as Broad Beach -- home to Kurt and Goldie, Sean Penn and other celebs who shun Malibu Colony in favor of this stretch of beach that is quieter and less in the public eye. I see this one as an understated, authentic house that knows to hold the pineapples.
The listing is shared by Kimberley Pfeiffer and Andy Stern, both of Coldwell Banker.
