Walmart Employees Steal $45K For A Car And A Sex Change [Video]
There are a lot of things you could buy with $45,000 of stolen cash: a year at a prestigious private university, a pretty nice sailing vessel, a night at the Hugh Hefner Sky Villa at the Palms Casino Resort in Las Vegas. But when Spencer Cullen, 23, and Adriano Altiveros, 19, robbed the Arizona Walmart where they worked, they planned to make more practical purchases: a car and a sex change.
Video footage shows Altiveros distracting cashiers, while Cullen entered the locked cash office. Altiveros then spent $22,000 of the loot on a Toyota Supra, purchased from a private seller in the Phoenix area. When police arrested the two in Prescott, 80 miles northwest of Phoenix, Cullen told detectives that she planned to use the money to go forward with a planned sex change operation, a Prescott police spokesman told Reuters.
The spokesman suspected that Cullen had already begun the process.
Male-to-female sex reassignment surgery costs roughly $18,000 and, for most Americans, is not covered by insurance.
