The Fool Looks Ahead

Updated

Monday
The new trading week kicks off with ZAGG (NAS: ZAGG) and China Digital TV (NYS: STV) reporting their quarterly results.

ZAGG makes protective accessories for smartphones and tablets. Its flagship product is invisibleShield, an anti-glare protective film that's popular with iPhone owners hoping to avoid scratching their smartphone's screen.

China Digital TV is the leading maker of smart cards that will be required as China migrates to digital television over the next few years.

Tuesday
Dell
(NAS: DELL) reports on Tuesday.

Dell missed out on the netbook, smartphone, and tablet movements, but analysts see earnings growing despite weak growth in PC shipments. The company has spent the past two years slashing its overhead, and that appears to be paying off on the bottom line.

Wednesday
Deere
(NYS: DE) pulls up its farm tractor on Wednesday. The maker of agricultural equipment and other industrial gear has an entire planet hungry for its heavy equipment, so it's not a surprise to see the company doing well. Analysts see a quarterly profit of $1.67 a share on Wednesday, comfortably ahead of the $1.44 a share it harvested a year earlier.

Thursday
Dell rival Hewlett-Packard (NYS: HPQ) and apparel retailer Gap (NYS: GPS) are some of the names on the earnings calendar come Thursday.

Remember when Gap was the crowded store in the mall, folding up jeans, khakis, and other basics like crazy? Well, things haven't been going so well for the company behind Banana Republic, Old Navy, and its namesake stores lately.

Friday
Fridays are usually ho-hum affairs in terms of corporate events, but those hungry for an earnings report can turn to Yingli Green Energy (NYS: YGE) . Investors are concerned about future solar-module shipments at Yingli, so Friday should provide some answers.

Until next week, I remain,
