Childhood Friends and Adventurers Head to South Pole

James Castrission and Justin Jones, a pair of Australian adventures and childhood friends who won fame for kayaking across the treacherous Tasman Sea, have set their sights on a new challenge: the South Pole.

According to NewsCorp Australia, the pair plan to be the first to trek to the pole and back overland. Their plan: Schlep two 350 pound sleds across the ice on cross country skis.

They are currently preparing for the expedition by not only cross-training, but bulking up. Because Castrission and Jones are planning on loosing somewhere between 44 and 66 pounds each during their trip, the duo are stuffing their faces with the equivalent of 15 Big Macs a day.
