House of the Day: Michael Graves Hit the Target Here

Like the sleek, understated designs of Target's product lines? Well, then we've got just the home for you. Michael Graves, who has designed hundreds of buildings, but is best known for designing Target products, made his architectural debut more than 40 years ago with this home in Fort Wayne, Ind. -- now on the market for $279,900.

A full-wall mural by Graves, said to be valued at between $30,000 to $50,000, awaits inside the open-floor layout of the home. Its floor-to-ceiling glass walls infuse the premises with enough natural light to ward off winter blues.

With three bedrooms, four baths, a den, dining room, living room, eat-in kitchen and basement, the contemporary-style home's mostly-white interior issues occasional trumpet-blasts of color which alter in tone from room to room, behind a stark, cream-colored exterior. If you're worried that the place could feel a tad commercial, don't: The home is decidedly residential, though with some expanse around it. It's set on a heavily wooded acre with its own babbling brook.

And should you need furnishings to fit the design, there's likely a Target not far away.

Eric Thrasher has the listing.
