Sick Continental Pilots Cause Flight Cancellations
According to Continental spokesperson Megan McCarthy, 24 flights have been canceled. That's out of Continental's 3,000 daily flights.
The affected routes are mostly out of New Jersey's Newark Liberty International Airport, just outside New York City, which is one of Continental's hubs. Passengers are being accommodated on other flights.
McCarthy declined to comment on the nature of the illnesses, but said the airline would monitor the situation.
In 2010 eight US Airways crew members called in sick due to problems on three different flights on the same aircraft, reported the Associated Press. It was determined that a bad seal on a door allowed engine exhaust into the cabin.
